Unlock Nationwide Access: The Perks of CO-OP Shared Branching

February 23, 2025 by Chevron Federal Credit Union

As a Chevron Federal Credit Union member, banking convenience doesn’t end at your local branch. The Credit Union’s membership in the CO-OP Network gives you access to more than 5,600 credit union branches and 30,000 surcharge-free ATMs nationwide – so you can keep life moving from anywhere.

The benefits of CO-OP Network Shared Branches and ATMs

Accessing your account through CO-OP Network Shared Branches and ATMs offers a range of benefits designed to make banking easier and more convenient. Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • Nationwide access: Whether you’re across town or across the country, you’re never far from financial support. With more than 5,600 locations, you’ll have the flexibility to bank where it’s most convenient.
  • Expanded ATM options: CO-OP network ATMs offer even more flexibility, including the ability to make deposits at many locations. ATMs in the CO-OP network provide surcharge-free withdrawals, giving you access to your funds without extra fees. You can also make surcharge-free withdrawals at ATMs in our other networks: Alliance One, Allpoint, and MoneyPass.*
  • Peace of mind while traveling: No need to worry about being far from your home branch. Our networks make it easy to manage your finances during vacations, business trips, or emergencies.
  • Convenient for families: Kids off to college? No problem. Shared Branches make it easier for family members to pay for books, meal plans, and everything else — even if they attend college out of state.

What services are available?

Using a CO-OP Shared Branch is simple and offers flexibility wherever you go. Here's what you can do:

  • Deposits: Deposit cash and checks. Payroll checks may require a stub for verification.
  • Withdrawals: Withdraw cash or checks, up to $2,000 per day per membership. Some Shared Branches may limit cash withdrawals to $500 per day, so it’s a good idea to call ahead to confirm limits at your chosen location.
  • Loan payments and advances: Make payments or take advances on your loans. (Cash advances are subject to the lower of $500 or your approved line of credit limit.)
  • Account transfers: Move funds between your sub-accounts or transfer to other financial institutions.
  • Mini statements: Print your last ten transactions, including balances, at select locations.

How does it work?

When you visit a Shared Branch, you’ll need to bring:

  • The name of your credit union
  • Your account number
  • A valid, government-issued photo ID with a signature

Tips for making the most of Shared Branching

To get the most out of CO-OP Shared Branching, it helps to plan ahead. Start by using our ATM & Branch Finder to find the nearest branch. Once you’ve identified your chosen location, consider calling to confirm any specific cash withdrawal limits or inquire about potential fees.

Before heading to a Shared Branch, ensure you have all the essentials. Bring your account number, a valid government-issued ID, and any documents required for your transaction. Having these items readily available will help you complete your transactions smoothly.

Additionally, it’s helpful to understand the availability of deposited funds. While cash and government checks are typically available for immediate withdrawal, other deposits may take up to two business days to process. Being aware of these timelines can help you plan better.
